CPI

Presenter: Denise Rahe Ed.S., Hannah Haupt or Anne Chatman

Description

The CPI program is considered the global standard for crisis prevention and intervention training. With a core philosophy of providing for the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security of everyone involved in a crisis situation, the program's proven strategies give educators the skills to safely respond to various levels of risk behavior while balancing the responsibilities of care.

The program teaches proactive and preventative strategies to support children with behavioral issues. The program contains units on how to recognize when a child is escalating, how to verbally deescalate situations and if necessary how to use a disengagement skill or hold to in order to keep everyone safe.

CPI addresses the needs of working with individual students who are prone to escalation and need an individual intervention. CPI is the only authorized method for physically intervening in a crisis situation.
